As the creator of a product review web site, my general focus is on the world of health and wellness. Every so often a product of a broader genre comes along that is worth noting and reviewing. Runners-Bike is one of those remarkable items.

This unique ‘push bike’ is geared for young children ages 2-5. Rather than using standard pedals, the child relies on his own legs to ‘run’ the bike. This makes for great exercise for a young one, and encourages the child to find their inner point of balance. Wobbling is to be expected at first, yet their own feet and legs provide appropriate security and support. Once the child finds their balance, they can lift their feet from the ground and coast…faster and faster! Braking is done in a simple and natural fashion: simply put down the feet! Runners-Bike also provides a greater sense of security than a standard tricycle, as children are planted near the ground, and fully in control of their speed. When it comes time for the child to evolve to a standard 2-wheeler, they have already mastered this way of balance, and can generally hop on a 2-wheeler and sail with ease.

The Runners-Bike is reminiscent of the good old days of natural wooden toys. The solid birchwood frame is far more durable than plastic and metal, enduring the natural wear and tear of an enthusiastic child. The wheels are made of pneumatic rubber, providing perfect cushioning for rocks and bumps. This bike is of superb quality, making a valuable gift that will be cherished for years to come. Runners-bikes come in two attractive styles: standard, or the flowery ‘Princess-Runners’ for gals.

The most important point to note about the Runners-Bike is: children love them! Several of my friends have purchased the bike for their children, and it quickly becomes their most beloved toy, inspiring hours of fun (as well as exercise!). The smiles of pure glee and delight on the kids’ faces say it all.
